What is a Doula?

A Doula is a non-medical professional who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support to the mother and support person before, during, and after birth.

What is the difference between a Doula and a Midwife?

A midwife is a medical professional with specialized training to provide prenatal care, labor and delivery, as well as postpartum care. While a doula is a non-medical support person. Who provides emotional, physical and informational support to the mother and their support person during pregnancy, labor and postpartum period.

When should I hire a Doula?

You can hire a Doula whenever you are ready. The timing does not matter. Preferably earlier the better. But again if its last minute we make it work and provide the best birth experience you deserve.

Why would I hire a Doula if I have support from my spouse or family member?

Although you may love having your husband or other family there to support you during this sacred event. Hiring a doula offers many amazing tools to you and your husband during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. The biggest difference between a doula and support from family is the experience, training, and education the doula has.

What are my qualifications?

I am a certified Birth Doula through CAPPA. And continue to expand my education to best serve you.

I want a Doula but I am not sure I can afford one?

This is totally understandable. Add a Doula fund to your baby registry and express to to others how this is an important item you'd like as many baby items aren’t necessary. But also don't hesitate to ask questions about payment plans or discuss options. I am always welcome to this discussion.
